-About-

The Observatory Lifestyle Market is a colourful place where people from the township was given the chance to rent a shop for small money to present their craft. You can find vintage clothing, jewellery, traditional food, get a haircut or just grab a coffe.

It also is a meeting point for creative people and venue for open mic sessions, exhibitions, and an event called "dine with me", where people exchange their stories and world views over a delicious dinner, gaining mutually from the experience. The market is situated next to Observatory train station and fits beautifully in the Obz flair.

Siyazama means "We are trying" in Zulu. It represents the social concept behind the market that thrives towards creating a space for people from the township, working on their own way of surviving in an environment where poverty is a daily reality. Here is your chance to get to know them and their personal story, current projects and day to day business.

The ultimate aim is to support them to support themselves through simple   donations, used to buy items that make their work more effective. Read more under "Syazama" or "My Approach".

The blog also serves as documentation of my social activity during my time in Cape Town.
